What is Oily Money Out and why should Northern Ireland care about it

When people talk about Oily Money Out, you may visualise annoying young people gluing themselves to buildings and causing marches that block roads and make you late for work. However, it is so much more than what the headlines will tell you.

Throughout this series of blog posts, I will highlight why this campaign is so vital and why locking up climate criminals to avoid climate chaos is worth your road being closed for an hour or two. In fact, it is nothing compared to the catastrophic destruction the climate crisis is unleashing upon all life on Earth that people in places such as JP Morgan and CitiBank not only are ok with this but are actively funding this happening.

On Wednesday the 6th of march, climate activists will take to the streets to create an artistic action outside the CitiBank building round by Titanic quarter in Belfast City Centre, to not only raise awareness to the general public but also to put pressure on this bank and let them know that we are watching them, we aren't going to let them get away with what they want, and future generations will look down upon them as the reason for floods, famine and fires.

In the next few weeks, I will explain on this page more in depth as to why we have chosen to highlight CitiBanks climate crimes specifically at the moment, why we need to stop funding oily projects and what this climate catastrophe actually means for the people living in Northern Ireland.
